While at DK’s Donuts in Orange, I was also able to try their Peanut Butter Oreo Donut. Peanut butter is always good, and with Oreo cookies, it’s even better.
This donut is topped with peanut butter covered in Oreo crumbs and ‘drizzled’ in glaze. The Peanut Butter Oreo Donut is cut down the center and filled with custard (another option I didn’t try was a whipped cream filling).
A very plain smell. The strongest smell, although subtle, is the peanut butter. The Oreo crumbs are indistinguishable in the smell.
After biting into this donut, the first thing you notice is the softer center portion of the donut, which is filled with custard. The donut’s main taste is the peanut butter though. After tasting this donut, I have to question if the custard is necessary, it’s neither a positive or a negative. Importantly, the Oreo crumbs are barely there when it comes to taste.
The donut itself somewhat reminds of the peanut butter Oreo cookies only with more peanut butter and the peanut butter “stuck to the roof of your mouth” expectations. Again, don’t know if the custard is necessary. It is possible that the whipped cream filling may taste better than the custard. I would definitely recommend trying this donut if you enjoy the peanut butter taste.
